NBKFT Tournament Types

• ARM SPARRING
• LEG SPARRING
• CHI SAU SPARRING
• ARM AND LEG SPARRING  

WHO MAY PARTICIPATE

All kung fu martial art practitioners are welcome to participate in the kung fu tournaments as long as they adhere to the rules and regulations, demonstrate sportsmanship, respect for judges and other tournament officials and all participants.

 

NO MIXED MARTIAL ARTS OR OTHER STYLES OTHER THAN KUNG FU WILL BE PERMITTED TO

PARTICIPATE IN NBKFT KUNG FU COMPETITIONS AND TOURNAMENTS.

ROUND - MATCHES

Adults - A match consisting of three 1-minute rounds with a 30 second break in between.

Children - A match consisiting of two 1-minute rounds with a 30 second break in between.

 

POINTS AWARD SYSTEM

• Points will be rewarded each round - the winner for each round will be announced every round.                    
• If a participant wins the first two rounds he/she will be announced winner. If there is a tie break in the 3rd round (Adults) 2nd round (Children) - the 1st to strike in the 3rd or 4th round will win and will proceed to the following round.

• 4 WINNERS (4 X 2 MATCHES)
• 1 CONTESTANT FIGHTS ( 1 OF THE LOWEST POINT SCORING / OF THE 4  WINNERS )
• 2 WINNERS (2 X 1 MATCH)
• 1 FINAL WINNER

 

THE WINNER OF THE TOURNAMENT -

• 1st place will receive the champions trophy.
• 2nd place will receive a runner up trophy.
• Fighters will receive a black NBKFT ribbon confirming their participation in the tournaments or competition.

 

UNIFORM

Uniform   Kung Fu pants /Tshirt  According to school. 
Shoes      Kung fu black martial art shoes - soft canvas sole shoes also permitted

 

SKILL LEVEL

• Novice                    1 year or less of training
• Beginner                1 years to < 2 years of training
• Intermediate         2 to 4 years of training
• Advanced               > 4 years of training

 

WEIGH-IN CONFIRMATION

WEIGH IN - for tornament fights will occur in advance of the scheduled fight

ADULT / TEENAGE /CHILDREN TOURNAMENTS.

1.ADULT tournaments  (18 years and over)

2.TEENAGE Tournaments (13years to 17 years)

3.CHILDREN Tournaments (7years to 12years)

Men’s Categories

- Lightweight Under 70kg
- Middleweight Under 78 kg
- Heavyweight Over 78 kg
- Open Weight

Women’s Categories

- Lightweight Under 55kg
- Middleweight Under 62kg
- Heavyweight Over 62kg
- Open Weight

 

Children Categories -

• <56kg
• 56<80
• All fighters will weigh-in on the same scale

 

Required Equipment

• Approved Protective head gear
• Protective shin guards
• Approved Chest guard
• Groin protector
• Approved Kung Fu padded fingerless gloves

Matches will take place in a boxing ring or open padded floor space.

 

Illegal Techniques

• Elbows
• Kicks to knee and inner knee joint
• Knee to the head
• Groin strikes
• Foot stamping
• Joint locking
• Striking the back of the head or spine
• Head butting
• Striking an opponent who is on the ground
• Attempting to throw opponent out of the ring  
• Striking any area of the opponent's back or groin
• Kidney strike
• Any of the above or otherwise determined by judge or referee as not acceptable.
